[thelionscall] bbirthday party theme
Hi there, I'm new and my name is Megan. My almost 8 year old son
wants a Narnia themed party. We need to do this with a strict
budget, but I am willing to make things, except for the turkish
delights, which happen to be on sale at www.libertyorchards.com. We
will have Aslan as a pinata, a Cair Paravel (my gazebo) with turkish
delights, hot chocolate and tea cake table, his actual cake will be
decorated similarly to the picture found on page 9 of LWW, the
lamppost and trees and snow, which will be pretty easy to do. We
will have pin the doorknob on the War Drobe (instead of the donkey,
and I can draw/paint that on posterboard), and every one can make a
crown or coat of arms to their liking and give themselves titles,
like I could be Megan the Merry, or whatever, and have a white stag
chase (they could chase my great pyrenees dog in the yard and he
would have streamers on his neck, and the children who could get the
streamers would win a prize???)
The invitations will be photocopied from the map on Narnia on the
back cover of the copy of LWW that I have. I'm sending out like 15
invites; do you think I would need permission?
Of course, since this would be a Friday evening adventure (we have a
church conference that weekend all weekend on the first weekend of
April), we will have something that is dinner like. Would sloppy
joes be just terribly not with the program?
And just in case it decides to storm (currently we live at the
Presidio in Monterey, CA where the weather changes every 5
minutes... like being in England LOL) we're hoping the movie comes
out on March 28, so the kids could watch it and we wouldn't have
screaming kids running the house amuck.
Do you guys think this sounds like a good plan? I hope so, and I
think it would be a fun party. I did tell Noah that it would be
more fun for the kids if they had already seen the movie/read the
book(s). I read them over and over again growing up, so I just
loved them. So we have to come up with a back up plan, but I think
it will be ok.
Any comments or suggestions would be very helpful.
Warmly,
Megan
