Re: [thelionscall] Hi! I'm New :)

To quote from The Silver Chair "It's the muddle about time."

The four children spend many years, probaby 20 or so, in Narnia, but when they left, only seconds had gone by.  When they comment in the next book about how much has changed in a year, they mean the year since they were last in Narnia.

Nah. It just means you're old enough for fairy tales again. :)

The children are 8,9,11, and 12 in LWW (a bit older in the movie).  HHB
takes place fourteen years later.  So Lucy would be about 22.

Re: [thelionscall] Chronicles Reading Order.

On the contrary.  In my opinion, it is cooler to believe with childlike faith, not needing the explanation of how and why.  Then when you find out how wardrobe got to be magical, how Jadis got to Narnia, and how the lamp-post got there, you have a wonderful moment of "so THAT'S how that happened!!!!"  For me, this moment was so fantastic that I go out of my way to encourage others to read them in the original order.

The nice thing is that we can now see both points of view.

Re: [thelionscall] Chronicles Reading Order.

Well, I'd recommend going in published order on the first read through, if for no other reason than seeing how the lamp post came to be is a lot cooler than trying to figure out why it's there. However, on the second time through, it's fun to change it up and read chronological order.

That's my 20 cents.
