Re: [thelionscall] Narnia on the BBC

Yes, the Radio Theater is the best, I agree with you.  The BBC version was still good, however, if you overlook the special effects.  Radio Theater isn't television, after all.

Doesn’t seem like there are a lot of favorite Prince Caspian moments, but I’ll give mine.  It is a bit about Edmund, and to me this is Edmund’s finest moment.  When the children and Trumpkin are lost in the woods and one point Aslan appears, but only Lucy can see Him.  Lucy wants to follow the Lion up the gorge, but Peter puts it to a vote.  When it comes to Edmund’s turn to vote…

“Well, there’s just this,” said Edmund, speaking quickly and turning a little red.  “When we first discovered Narnia a year ago – or a

thousand years ago, whichever it is – it was Lucy who discovered it first and none of us would believe her.  I was the worst of the lot, I know.

Yet, she was right after all.  Wouldn’t it be fair to believe her this time?  I vote for going up.

“Oh, Ed!” said Lucy, and seized his hand.

To me this moment shows the change in Edmund and is an even greater representation of his repentance than his valor in destroying the witch’s wand.  I hope they keep that moment in the movie.

Yeah, I love that bit as well.  My other fave bit is when they all get dragged off the train platform into Narnia, thats brilliant!

I agree with Daniel. The BBC films stick verty close to the books. That goes both for the story and for what the actors actually say, as far as I can remember. I believe C. S. Lewis chose his words very carefully, making the books full of wisdome. That ought to be brought into any film.

So I would definately recommend the BBC films.

I personally like it.  The special effects are horrible, but that's just because of the incredibly low budget.  The spirit of the movies, however, is perfect.  I feels like narnia.  It also sticks far closer to the books than the new movie does.

Well as a kid when I watched it, I loved it.  Every Sunday my whole family without hesitation watched it :)

When I get the money I'll be buying the boxset.  I would seriously invest in it.  I really think you'll like it :)
