I suppose in a way, it's a good thing Lewis doesn't give the characters precise ages even if it results in some confusion arising from different assumptions readers will make. If I had read the books when I was 15 and saw that it was about kids 6-13 or whatever, I might have lost interest. Although it would have been nice if Lewis had planned out the books in advance and thereby eliminated all discrepancies.
