[narnia] Re: New to the group, wanted to know thoughts on Disney's plans for Narnia.

Okay, I found the article. The headline is misleading. What Bob
Iger actually states is that it could translate into a Theme Park
Product. Let me put that in real world terms for you. Having been
a Disney Cast Member, very proudly, for many years I can pretty much
tell you that it is unlikely to mean a whole Theme Park or even a
new land in a Theme Park. That requires too big of a cost
investment. They want to maximize their profits on an already
profitable product so they will minimize investments. They have
several options that would fill the bill as Theme Park Product
without requiring too much investment capital. At the Disney-MGM
Studios as a promotion they had a Sound Stage setup with Character
Performers and props from the film for guests to visit. That is
Theme Park Product. They could also redo an attraction known as the
Dailies Theatre, where they can adapt one of the DVD extras into a
15 minute big screen show, and have a lobby filled with props.
Minimal cost, maximum profit. Personally, I think these ideas are
creatively LAME. But I have seen them do this with other succesful
film showcases. Toy Story was a more successful adaptation. As a
Narnia Lover, I hope they will invest more money and "do the right
thing" respectfully towards Narnia.

But rest assured there will probably be no Narnia theme park or
Narnia Land addition to a Theme Park.
